According to many organizations overseeing the health and sustainability of sea food, many forms of sea life are in decline due to overfishing, pollution, and global warming. Two leading organizations dedicated to addressing these critical issues, have some kind of working relationship and acknowledge each other's contribution, but do not seem able to jointly promote their unique positions.

Two kinds of groups that could collaborate.

"The MSC’s fishery certification program and seafood eco-label recognize and reward sustainable fishing. We are a global organization working with fisheries, seafood companies, scientists, conservation groups and the public to promote the best environmental choice in seafood."

"The Monterey Bay Aquarium Seafood Watch program helps consumers and businesses make choices for healthy oceans. Our recommendations indicate which seafood items are "Best Choices," "Good Alternatives," and which ones you should avoid."

What makes this compelling?

Marine Stewardship Council certifies fish food as sustainable and safe - from the boat to the consumer.

Monterey Bay Aquarium Seafood Watch provides well researched booklets and other information to consumers detailing which fish are sustainable and safe and which are not.

One covers the supply, the other the purchaser - a logical collaboration, yet for some reason they have not responded to requests by consumer groups to consider the obvious.

How to implement change.

Our opinion of these groups.

If you like them, we like them - we're supportive, not "endorsive." The mission of OneSpace is to promote collaboration, plain and simple.
